"SOMETIMES THE SMALLEST THINGS TAKE UP THE MOST ROOM IN YOUR HEART"

WELCOME TO GENISTA PAWTRAITS

"Genista Pawtraits" is where you can find samples of my work which I mainly do for pleasure, family and friends. However, I have recently started taking commissions for Pastel Pet Portraits. I aim to create exquisite pastel pet portraits from your photographs that bring out the spirit, character and personality of your beloved and cherished other family member, with their unique personalites, cheeky grins, they make us laugh and smile and love us unconditionally. What would we do without them?

I am a pet owner and animal lover myself, and I understand how much pleasure and comfort an original pastel portrait can bring, either by celebrating an adored pet or remembering one we have sadly lost.

A commissioned pet portrait or gift voucher makes a unique birthday, Christmas, wedding or anniversary gift that will be treasured forever by the recipient.

I hand paint each portrait using photographs as a guide. I am not trying to make the painting look like the photograph but hopefully to enhance it to bring out your pets personality and character as a painting. Several photographs can be used to get the required pose and changes can be made to remove e.g. a hand, collar, "red eye" etc. It is important to use as clear a photograph as possible as a guide as the quality of the photograph will directly influence the detail of the painting.

I love to paint/draw, it is my refuge at times and a celebration at other times. I paint/draw in many styles/mediums as you will see over the coming months. Please take a look at all my pages on this blog.

For Available Artwork please take a look at my pages and/or my Website. Visit my "Prices/Sizes" page and"How To Commission A Portrait" for information.

Please leave a comment if you have time or maybe even become a follower, you are more than Welcome......

Pastel Pet Portrait Blog Give-A-Way

I have recently started doing commissions for Pastel Pet Portraits as you have probably seen on previous posts. To celebrate my new venture I am having a blog Give-A-Way of a Pastel Pet Portrait. All you need to do to enter my Give-A-Way is become a follower of this blog and/or my Teddy Bear blog  HERE at "The House Of Genista" plus leave a comment on either one of my Give-A-Way posts telling me the name of your dog/cat, breed, colour etc and your email address so that I can contact the winner. Comments will not be published, they will be kept private and deleted after the draw has taken place. The winner will need to send me by email a very clear photograph of their pet to enable me to create the pastel portrait. The better quality the photo the better the portrait will be.

If you are already a follower of this blog and/or my Teddy Bear blog I will put your name in twice. If you become a follower of both I will put your name in two more times.

An example of one of my pastel portraits:

If you put my Give-A-Way on your blog I will put your name in the draw for another chance also, but please let me know you have done so.

Draw will take place on Monday 6th August

Comments that do not contain an email address I have published.

I hope you will all enter and I look forward to creating a Pastel Pet Portrait for the winner.

Friendly Tiger

"SOLD"

I really enjoyed creating this "FRIENDLY TIGER" for a childs' room. The little girl loves tigers and wanted a painting for her bedroom, nothing ferocious looking, just happy and friendly and we came up with this little chap. He has been created on grey pastel velour paper using pastel pencils. Portrait has been fixed and has been framed under glass to the customers'own taste.

ALFIE

I have been comissioned to do several pet portraits recently.  Two West Highland Terriers "Alfie" and "Lilly", and two male cats "Thomas" and "Smudge".
The first one to be completed is
 "ALFIE"
"SOLD"

A pastel portrait of ALFIE, a West Highland Terrier.  His portrait had been created on grey pastel velour paper and has been fixed, matted and framed. Size is 6 x 9 ins. I did not have a very clear photograph of Alfie so used the two photos below as reference to obtain the required pose.

The next portrait which I am currently working on is "Thomas" a male, shorthair white and tabby cat. His portrait is also being created on grey velour paper using pastels and is also 6 x 9ins. I have a very clear photograph of Thomas to work from as you can see below.

The completed portrait will be posted her on my blog as soon as it has been completed in the next day or so.
